BetUS has been around a very long time, starting back in the early 2000s. At that time they were known as ‘little Nasa’ and went by the name Nasa Sportsbook. They became a large operation with solid player promos, targeted ad campaigns and a large staff of phone operators. ‘Big Nasa’ became BetonSports and was eventually targeted and shut down by the U.S. government. But after 20 years, BetUS is still around. Unfortunately, they still play some of the games with customers that both of the Nasa operations were known for at the turn of the century.

We received a complaint from from an OSGA member who had played at BetUS several years back. He told us that he received an email from BetUS to come back and ‘reactivate’ his old account. They offered him a giant 100% bonus (up to $5,000) if he wanted to play with them again.

As the player had previously won at BetUS, he jumped at the opportunity and started with a 5K deposit to take advantage of the maximum bonus. As, you can imagine, with a large deposit like this, the player has deep pockets, but is also a good gambler. He lost those funds within a few weeks and again deposited the same amount, and was again given the same bonus. This time he won with large MLB bets and ran his account up to $40,000!

Request for a payout draws an account review

The player requested the max payout of $3,000 and was then told those dreaded words, “Your account is under review”. Still he felt he had nothing to worry about, he was invited back in, had lost and then got lucky and won some of his larger bets. But, BetUS had a different idea.

They claimed that he had two previous accounts, one that was shut down and he was kicked out and a second one, which was the one that was reactivated. By having two accounts, he violated their rules and thus his action was null and void, no good. They sent him back his original deposit and told him they were confiscating the winnings.

After going back and forth with BetUS and getting nowhere, he contacted us here at OSGA.

We stepped in and contacted BetUS. We pointed out that he was invited to play and BetUS didn’t seem to mind his alleged two accounts when he lost the first 5K. We also pointed out that, of this player was previously shown the door, he should have been told no from the first bet. No matter who you are, when you come into a sportsbook and drop $5,000 on your first deposit, some one is watching your every move for the first few weeks.

BetUS got back to us and told us to give them a day or two to look into this players’ claims. To their credit they got back to us within 24 hours. They examined the situation and put the $30,000 that had been confiscated back into the players account and told him to play with no restrictions.

BetUS did admit that they should not have invited him back, but they also said, “We are in the business of taking bets and we are going to take this player’s action.” They went on to say that he could withdrawal at any time, the money was his.

So, perhaps the winds are a changing at BetUS. Since they have stopped taking new U.S. customers (which is probably why they reached out to this player prior to football season) we have gotten very few complaints about BetUS and have heard of no serious problems with payouts, until this complaint. Still, we wonder what would have happened if this player did not know of OSGA and we had not gotten involved.
